We had the honour of hosting the inspirational Sir Richard Taylor, co-founder of the Weta companies, at our breakfast event this morning.
Richard talked to our guests about the passion, enthusiasm and tenacity which has allowed Weta's success in New Zealand and on an international scale. He talked on the challenges Weta has faced in the film and television industries and the developments that will determine achievement for business in the future.
Richard has been instrumental in helping New Zealand forge a successful role in the global movie industry, and turning Wellington into an internationally recognised centre for film production. He has been awarded five Academy Awards and four BAFTAs for Weta’s work in visual effects, costume and make-up. Richard was knighted in 2010 for services to film and, among other accolades, was named New Zealander of the Year 2012.
While Richard has demonstrated exceptional achievements in the international movie industry, and has exciting projects in the pipeline including a collaboration with one of the UK’s biggest production companies, he continues to reside in Wellington and is a passionate New Zealander who is committed to this country.
